Laser Cataract Surgery

Laser Cataract Surgery

Laser cataract surgery is also called femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). It uses advanced laser technology to make very precise incisions and pre-cuts the cataract for removal prior to the start of the conventional part of the surgery. The added precision, accuracy, and reproducibility of this procedure, when performed with a laser, can potentially reduce the energy required to safely remove your cataract.

The laser is also used to treat small amounts of astigmatism at the time of cataract surgery with laser incisions called astigmatic keratotomies. These incisions help improve the quality of vision without glasses. Laser assisted cataract surgery can also be used for eye surgeries in which toric or multifocal lenses are implanted, giving the patient great vision for distance and/or near vision without the use of corrective glasses.

Dr. Chocron uses the CATALYS® Precision Laser System from Johnson & Johnson Vision for precise and reliable treatments.
