Dr. Isaac Chocron Kaswan is a board certified and fellowship trained comprehensive ophthalmologist, cornea, and refractive surgeon who specializes in the surgical treatment of cataracts, including laser cataract surgery. He offers the most advanced multifocal and toric intraocular lenses designed to meet your visual needs. He has experience with Alcon’s newest PanOptix trifocal lens and Johnson & Johnsons’ extended depth of focus platform of Tecnis Symfony lenses.

He earned a merit scholarship at the renowned Vanderbilt University School of Medicine for his medical degree and completed his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He then completed an additional year of fellowship training in cornea, external diseases and refractive surgery at the prestigious Emory University Eye Center, one of the nation’s leading eye centers and early pioneers in refractive surgery. At Emory Eye Center, he gained expertise in refractive surgery including LASIK and PRK as well as corneal transplantation surgery and difficult dry eye and blepharitis management. He is a strong advocate for resident surgical education, having taught in Alcon’s national resident cataract surgery course in Ft. Worth, Texas, and has experience supervising and teaching resident corneal transplantation and cataract surgery.

Dr. Chocron is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed research papers and national posters published in Cornea, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Current Opinion in Ophthalmology and the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Chocron was born in Venezuela and has lived in the United States for over 20 years. He is fluent in English and Spanish. He is passionate about global ophthalmology and was one of the leaders of Project Nicaragua at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in support of the national ophthalmology hospital in Managua, Nicaragua. During his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, traveling and experiencing new cultures, and trying new restaurants with his wife Daiana.
